Our GMT story was completed with the introduction of the GMT-Master II. In 1983, the GMT-Master II was born. This introduced a variety of innovations that are still in use today, 35-years later. The introduction of a 24-hour timer was one of the most significant innovations. The 24-hour hand could be moved quickly, independently of the hour hands. This was combined with the rotating bezel so that the watch could track the time in three different time zones. The watch can track time in two different ways: the first uses the hour and minutes hands, and the second monitors the independent 24-hour hand. This kept with the cola-flavored drink theme. The inserts can be interchanged so collectors can get three looks out of one watch by switching them. However, I would caution against suggesting that you "simply" switch bezel inserts. Although it is quite simple and takes just a few minutes to do, the price of Rolex parts has risen in recent years so make sure you are aware that purchasing spare inserts is not as affordable as it once was.
